ok, so thinking about that broken center pin retaining bolt in the gov-loc im tryin to get out. Im going to the yard tomorrow, and dont have time to wait on the extractor kit, so i had a thought.

just to get that sucker out. brake clean to get the oil off the broken bit. take a length of coat hanger wire, shape it like an allen key, put a glob of superglue on the end, stick it all the way in so it is against the broken bit of the screw...... wait..... wait..... wait some more, and then unscrew the broken bit.

quick, cheap, hopefully easy and effective.... thoughts?

maybe the same idea... but using JB weld?

No amount of glue is going to be able to overcome the kind of force that would cause the pin to break, especially superglue.

I'd personally just use a long drill bit to get as close as possible with the ez-out.

mmkay. one of the tips on here was to use a pick to try and rotate it out. i figured if it was supposed to be loose enough to get at with a pick, superglue could get it out.......

but the whole breaking and not coming out part makes sense too :doah:

i said use the pic. seen lots of guys get it that way.

2 bad things with superglue and jb weld.

if it drips off and gets on threads you are SCREWED wont spin out now. :doah:

i've worked them out with pick tools before, very tedious, and need alot of patience, but the one i was working on eventually came out.

I've always seen them break with usually like one thread still on the tp, so they have to be spun n worked out.

yeah, this is why i ask.

its just i gotta get to work by 12 tomorrow, yard is about a half hour away, so i gotta get home from the yard, take a shower, get dressed, drive into work all by 12, and the yard opens at 7:30 in the morning.

so if im playing it safe, ive got maybe 2 hours to get that darned retaining bolt out. the parking brake assemblies are unbolted and ready to take off. i just gotta get those ruddy axles out.

hmmmm.......... ok, glue is bad reason for great listed reasons.

guesss im just gonna have to try my luck with the pick tomorrow, and order the extractor kit if that dosnt work. guess i cant complain, all the things that could have gone wrong, having one little hiccup, i should be counting my blessings.
