What are these going in? What size are you looking for? Music preferences?
Might be just as good to get one better quality sub than 2 of lesser quality ;)

going in the back of a k5 for the heck of it. music would be hardcore and metal. not to sure where to start. new to this.

I guess I should have asked what the rest of the system will consist of?
If you're just looking to have some bass coming from the back just about anything will do and honestly the box may make more of a difference than the sub. Might even look into a good size sealed box with a single 10" or 12" instead of two subs, could use a smaller amp that way too.

If you're listening to hardcore and metal I would go with a sealed box, no question. Kenwood subs have never been that great IMO, I would look for something a little better like these Phoenix Golds. 70 bucks a pop at PartsExpress.com (awesome site, BTW) and better subs. Those would do fine with a 300 watt amp and they should round out your sound nicely rear-firing just behind the back seat. Do keep in mind that if the top is off you will lose quite a bit of resonance, but it will still sound nice.

IIWY I would go as cheap as possible. Get one of those package deals from Pepe Boys with the subs/box/amp/wiring kit for $99.00. It will sound good, it will be cheap, easy to install, it won't be worth stealing, if it gets messed up when you are wheeling you could replace it all for cheap.

I have a decent head unit in my K5 and a speaker box that I bought with some 6.5 and some tweeters already in it, for ten bucks.
