So I am building a 1972 chevy truck that my grandpa owned since 72. At any rate I just set the motor and hope in the next couple weeks to fire it up and drive it.
Well the truck has the original split rims and tires all weather checked. In finishing out cleaning of his garage, I found a set of rims and tires that he had for another truck. The tires are at least 10 years old and on a set of 16" chrome rims. I know the tires had around 500 mile on them. He bought the tire and rims and ran them only for 2 summers on his "fancy ford truck". They have been stored indoors and really look brand new.
I know many people say to not run an older used tire, but I know for a fact the tires were used very little and were only for summer show (he used the factory rims for winter). They all were at 35 pound when we found them, which means they hold air.
Would you run them? I really can not find a single thing wrong, but really have heard that you should never run an older tire....
