Got offered one from a 2002 Chevy 1500 HD for dirt cheap.

Missing calipers.

Any good?

think of Charles Atlas kicking sand in a 10 bolts face....

hell yeah! they go for between 250-400 around here. I plan on dropping a 6 lug version in my rig.

I've never broken one. Not quite as strong as a FF, but lighter and better ground clearance.

I run one behind the Duramax in my Tahoe offroad. I've broken the D60 up front multiple times jumping the truck and generally thrashing on it and I've never hurt the rear axle. It is bone stock aside from an ARB locker and a disc brake conversion.

A great axle and steal at that price. Only downside is the rebuild parts are a little more pricey. I beat on my old 9.5 with 38" boggers and it never gave up.

I've got the six lug version waiting to be put together and installed.

40$ bucks would be a automatic reflex action.

Did a little research. Reman caliper are $50ish w/ $50ish core... Rotors come in between $40- $50 each.

Cool thing is you can make it 8 lug or 6 lug just with the axle shafts and rotors.

If the guy still has the axle a month or so from now I'll get it. He has it priced so low I'm assuming he's having a hard time getting rid of it so it'll probably still be there or on it's way to the scrap yard.

Might check the 6 to 8 compatibility. One point remember seeing on here a 1/2" spacer to go one to the other

I have a lock right in mine. I'm having issues though. I need to call the lock right tech line

I still have the G80 locker in mine (99-2500) 230K on it, last time I had the cover off everything looked great, and the locker works well too.
14BSF is the new 14BFF!....yeah, not really but they are much better than a 10b

Any of you guys ever ran a Lockrite in one? ARB is too expensive for my blood.

The small 14 bolt is quite a bit stronger than most give them credit for. I've had one with a detroit and 5.13 gears for over 10 years with no problems at all. In stock form the open carrier is the weak link even with small tires. A Lockrite is a waste of money because the carrier will likely be worn out to the point a Lockrite won't work worth a beans or if it does the carrier will let go in short order. The gov-lock is stronger and will last if used with care. The best answer is a Detroit or an ARB (if you don't mind the ARB problems).

@Deuling is the man to talk to about the 6/8 lugger swap.

I'll agree they are a great diff, just traction aids are spensive compared to a full float.

But for $40 you can't go wrong.
