Thoughts on this 89 Sub...?

I bet he would too. I'm having a hard time deciding what type of Sub I want. I'm interested in these rigs because I want something to wrench on(parts are waaay too $$$$$ for my C5, freakin $1500 headers, $500 dyno tune, smog, yuck!)But I know if I bought a stockish one it'd take $10K for me to replicate that. Make vs. buy. Built vs. bought. What to do.....

Not alot of pics, but it looks and sounds like a pretty solid rig. 5 to 6,000 is not out of the ballpark. Little vague on the engine, I'd like to know more about it..TBI?

I went by an hour ago to look at it. It was a little dark, but this thing is an ABSOLUTE BEAST! It already is the ultimate truck I want(well, except for 454 or turbo diesel but smog nazis make that tough). If I could pick it up for $5K, then I'd have to give it a serious thought.

I know it doesn't have the most hardcore parts for you rockcrawlin' CK5ers, but that's not what I'm looking to do. I want to go to Tahoe, camping, muddin, and to the dunes in Pismo. I'll check out some trails, but I'm not looking to do anything crazy like some of you. I could do small, inexpensive things to beef it up a bit more,(shack flips, etc) but the big expensive stuff is taken care of(tires, 14bff, etc....).

I've got a local CK5er I just met that will go take a look at it with me and give me some good feedback after crawling around under it. This will be invaluable, since I'm a total noob to anything 4x4. Thanks bucksntrucks969! In the meantime, I'd like any more input you can give this noob.

Check the Tucson Craigslist for the last week or so. There's an 87 Sub on there with a fairly new 454 with fuel injection. Body's in good shape and I think he is only asking around $3900 for it.

Looks nice and all, but there's 1 small problem. It's not 4wd.

And the smog nazis may not pass it. Although getting an old burb with an engine swap probably isn't as bad as trying to pass a newer 2000+ carwith an aggressive heads/cam package(what I really wanted to do to my C5).

Uh, I think I see a front driveshaft. What makes you think it's not 4x4?

I don't think its worth 5K :dunno:

Maybe its because I haven't looked at 'burbs of this vintage too much but the price seems high to me.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to the white one.

No worries, easy to get confused. If that white one that I want wasn't 4x4 then the owner is the most poser mall crawlin' person ever to lift a 2wd sub like that.
