Which thread sealant do you guys use for fittings and why?

I'm a gack guy in the marine biz... it's rare I use tape, usually only on plastic..... I'm assuming your talking NPT...
 
I use tape because it’s cheap and easy BUT the paste type is nice because you can wipe off the excess (you can peak off excess tape but wiping is quicker).

For nice AN fittings I’d use the paste on the NPT ends.
 
liquid Teflon, the tape can have pieces come loose and end up in the system your working on. I have removed little pieces of tape from many a needle and seat, or form in float bowl. Hate to think what it might do to an injector.

The liquid Teflon also works very well to seal splines on yokes and flanges.
