Stupid question, still needs an answer please.

!988 Suburban, what is the thread size for the oil dipstick retaining bolt? The bolt in the side of the block that holds the drip stick tube.

Mine is obviously missing.

On a side note, how the hell do you reach the bolts holding the cruise control bracket on without pulling the engine?!?

Bolt size that holds the dipstick tube is 1/4"-20.

Cruise control bracket I just use a swivel socket.

Thanks guys. Got the dip stick mounted, my OCD is happier. Now for follow up questions..................

I'm pulling the smog pump system, it has the one per side large fittings in the exhaust manifolds. What thread size are those?

Also, any thing specific I need know about swapping a 96-98 Vortec front pulley system onto my TBI engine. Other than needing to do a reverse rotation water pump any other mounting issues you can think of?

If running a mechanical fan you will also need a reverse rotation fan as well.

I've got a complete 97 305 Vortec motor in the garage. Was going to pull it all and install in the suburban (with a new water pump). Just wanted to make sure if all the holes that are needed are there. I guess I lucked out, on my 88 the alternator and a/c compressor are the same sides as the Vortec motors.
