Threw some paint on my new rear bumper

Check this guy out. www.4wdmetalworks.com I spoke to him this afternoon and he said that he could build one for around $650.00 plus shipping. That includes a black powder coat finish. The owner is Joe Stewart. You should see some of his other work... It looks great. I met him at the Anderson Jamboree.

How is 'his' site your homepage? Looks a lot like 'advertising' to me.../forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

just a little Blingy for my truck

[/ QUOTE ] Knew you'd say that /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Come on, just one little blingy thing on the truck... you can do it! just one lighted bolt! /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif Ya know, when i get my truck up there, we can be Bling and Anti-bling...

Yeah, you'd think with all the hassles you get at the border no one's given you a hard time about it. And yes, I agree, lights aren't needed. But it's the law, son. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Looks awesome Rene....heck of a job! /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

I'm seriously thinking of having my truck painted...nothing spendy, I'm just sick of the flat black. That will be the closest I ever come to any sort of 'bling'. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

When you driving Chomp up here? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Rene

Coming up Aug 26th, staying until the morning of the 30th. Been trying to talk the friends I'm bringing into driving up instead of flying, but flying's cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

So, I guess i'll just have to do a road trip before the end of the year. I'm dying to drive it up there and stop some cool places along the way. Maybe the next trip - probably have to drive up myself tho. Apparently all my friends are big chickens. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Hmmm, tired of the black, eh? Too bad. I think it looks great just the way it is. Makes Chomp look like a sissy. But I understand getting tired of it. What color you thinkin of??

Its a buddy of mine starting up a shop. Just trying to help get his name and site out, thats why I have his site as my home page. I'm sorry for the confusion, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.
You did a great job on your bumper, did you think of having it powder coated?

And can you send me some more pics?

My personal opinion, but I am not big on powder coating parts like this or any part on a wheelin rig. Powdercoating chips and can flake off.. Then you just wasted all that money you paid ot have someone PC it. So why not just throw a nice coat of paint on it? Much cheaper.... And if the paint flakes, go buy another can for $1.50.

No ruffling here /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Your post was probably fine except for posting a price.

There are a few more detail pic's of the rear bumper in my members gallery. click here

I'm with Mike as far as powder coating goes. My truck sees enough abuse that anything I put on the bumper will get scratched or chipped. A $2 touch up with some more rattle can grey is prefferable to ruining a spendy powder coat job.

LOL...You need some scratches on that rig!!! /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

And in my defense...I need to finish my cage..
before I put any paint on it.. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Agreed on powdercoat...
my Avalache dif cover has no powdercoat left on it..
It's just not worth the time, money or effort..
for anything other than a show rig..

LOL...$650 is about $150 more than what I'd charge.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

$650 is considerably more than what I'd charge too (if I were to sell one), but they do take time to put together...

thanks for the link to your pics, how did you mount your cage to the floor? did you use backing plates?
very nice blazer.

Sandwich plates where I could. There are a few plates over areas that are reinforced already but won't easily allow a sandwich plate from underneath. In those areas I used larger washers.
