Hey all,

Today, I checked to see if the throttle body blades would actually reach (full open) by depressing the gas pedal as far as it would go. It did not!

Is there a procedure on how to fix this.
or
will a new throttle cable be the answer.
:D
Thanks.....

Might be a stretched cable, I've never checked mine to be honest.

If you disconnect the cable at the pedal, can you push the throttle shaft open fully before the cable "bottoms out" at the TBI? I can't recall how it's set up, perhaps that would never be a limiting factor, but after ruling that out, it would seem to me that the pedal would be the problem.

The pedal/cable connection IIRC isn't necessarily made to be adjustable, but the arm the cable connects to can be bent. I recall adjusting mine a bit when I went TPI.

Thanks for the reply Dyeager535,

I should have the cable on Friday. If needed I will try to bend,jerryrig,mangl....etc the accelerator pedal.

I have seen it mentioned a few times ( Throttle Blades not even close to WOT) on this site, but no explanation on how to rectify.

This is in a stock 88 k5,no spacer or any other mods on the TBI .

Is it a fact, that if everything is correct and up to par, the throttle pedal to the floor should have the TB blades vertical.??? Or..... Is this an unattainable goal .?????:dunno:

I don't think it's unobtainable, GM could have somehow saved money if they didn't open that far, and they would have if they didn't want the travel to be there! :)

Well, I received/Installed the throttle cable.

I, also used a split sinker weight with the wings filed off to take up the slack in throttle line.

This did take up the slack, and solve the "throttle blades, cable, pedal" Issue :D.......How long will it last????...Its been to F~n HOT & Monsoonie to test.

Done for now :smokin2:

Good idea on that split shot, that looks like it should work great! Do a follow up with us after you've got a good number of miles on it.

If the lead ends up being too soft, wonder if there are non-lead alternatives that are a bit harder. I know they make non-lead alternatives but no idea if they are actually any harder.
