Anyone have a recommendation for a place to buy a rebuilt (better than new, ideally) throttle body? I'd like everything but the injectors. Some old threads talked about turbocity, but they are out of business.

They don't list TBI here http://www.carburetion.com/fuel.htm but if someone doesn't point you to a specific vendor, you might try calling them and asking. I've dealt with them personally (for Q-jet stuff) and they knew what they were doing, and had parts I couldn't find elsewhere, like throttle shaft bushings.

Yes, unfortunately I'm not tracking any TBI rebuilders.

Have you checked ebay as well? Quite a few folks on there selling TBI units, bought gasket sets there, never needed a complete TBI unit.

I want to make sure the throttle rotation is as smooth as possible. There's a little play in the shaft. I've recently replaced the gaskets and o-rings and stuff.

I have some new GM TBI's (don't know all the applications), post some pictures of the vacuum ports/ electric plugs/throttle linkage, and I will see if I have something that matches.

What experience do you have with them? They don't give much detail on the site. I bought an adapter from them a while ago.

I forgot about them. They seemed to be GTG, have read other experiences with them that were favorable.

RV Morse is legit, as is CFM Technologies. They're both pretty well known on the F-body forums. (RVM also sells CFMTech parts).

If you're looking for a basic rebuild, check your local machine shops. I've got a couple good ones locally - they cleaned the TBI and bushed my throttle shaft for $40. I had the injectors cleaned/balanced/tested at WitchHunter Performance - they did a great job.

Got my TB from Morse today. Getting it installed now. Anyone have a slick way to seal the notch where the injector wires go up inside the air cleaner area? I never had the factory grommet thing. On my old TB I had a glob of silicone doing the job, but it would be nice to do better. Are those grommets obtainable, and if so can they be installed without cutting the wire? Any other options?

You can use 3/8" hose.......I had some extra power steering hose.

Cut off about 1/2" hose..........cut the hose piece lengthwise........wrap around all 4 wires.....tuck it into the grommet opening....trim off any excess with a pin knife or utility knife. Replace gasket. Done

This works great but it is also very snug. Inside the grommet opening is a notch that helps keep the rubber hose in place and will take some energy to remove. I just used a pair of needle nosed pliers to remove or to put it back in its spot. Gasket fits perfectly when the hose is trimmed.

Hope this helps.

Clever idea. Do you think you are getting a good seal? Would be a shame for a bunch of dust to get up in there.

BTW, what camera are you using? Nothing I have can do nice close ups like that.

Once you have the hose cut how you want, then you can add sicicone to fill in any gaps. Another idea is to wrap a foam strip around the wires. Just enough foam that it fits snug in the grommet opening and the foam should have a pretty tight seal around the wires that you won't have to use any silicone.

The camera is a DLR Nikon 5000. We bought it about 5 years ago.
