Throttle cable for a '04 6 liter

I just put a '04 6 liter in my '70 Jimmy. I've checked with two different dealers and they claim the older throttle cables from the pick-ups won't work and the cables from the vans are to short. Any one have any experience/suggestions with this?????

What kind of attachment method do they use? "Old" stuff uses the simple hole with a stud on the throttle arm, even my '88 Camaro stuff uses a different design, which is a cylindrical metal barrel that fits in a circular hole.

I think ryan uses the drive by wire but I'll try him anyway.

I'm fairly sure he eleminates the drive by wire.
