throttle cable ideas?

Hi all,

I dropped a 1988 350 V8 TBI in my 1977 K5 Blazer. But I run in a problem with the throttle cable. I must make an awkward and very tight S-bend from the point where it comes out from the firewall to the bracket where it sits. This makes the cable heavy to move and I feel that in the paddle. I even fear that one day it will be stuck with the throttle open. Looking at that bracket I wonder about the throttle cable that is stock on TBI vehicles. Can anyone maybe show me a pic of how it is stock?

I'm sorry I can't help with pictures, as I have TPI, but I don't think the throttle cable location ever changed on the firewall. You need the throttle cable for a 1987-1991 R/V truck with TBI, that should solve any problem. Might need the mounting bracket as well, I don't know much about the differences between TBI on the C/K and R/V trucks.

I realize based on your location you don't have the opportunity to just go to a wrecking yard and compare.

When I converted my 81 Chev truck to TBI from quadrajet carb, I used a Lokar universal throttle cable and bracket. I still had problems with the factory gas pedal not allowing wide open throttle ( pedal would bottom out on floor pan. Solved the problem by removing the pedel assembly from the floor mount and placing a 5/8" spacer with longer screws below the pedel assembly mount. This allowed greater pedal travel for complete throttle body articulation. The slightly higher pedal was not noticed. It has been 2 1/2 years with no problems.
