throttle cable issues

i have a 85 k5 that im putting together with a 350 chevy edelbrock performer intake and 670 street avenger. i got a new throttle cable from the parts store and my issue is when u hit the gas peadel it is only half way to the floor when the carb is wide open. im using the original cruise and throttle cable mount ive also tried a holley mount which dosent change anything can u guys please help or have any of u had this issue
 
If you can attach the cable farther away from the shaft on the carb that way it takes more cable pull to open the carb to full.
 
what carb trottle cable bracket used ?

factory / aftermarket / if aftermarket is it adjusted correctly ? / piviot pin on correct carb linkage arm hole for correct throw and cable travel match ?

lots of veriables.
 
it is the factory bracket with the cruse servo and all attached and i have it in the hole jus underneth the 1/2inch diamiter hole. ive tried all the holes on the linkage and it does not change it i hope u guys can help me ive ben fightn this for days and holley cannot help me and im very frustrated with the project at the moment thanks guys
 
Did the new throttle cable length match the old one (both the cable and housing)?
 
thats the bad part is the old one is long gone but that was also a parts store one from about 4 years ago
 
You can use the big hole at the top of the lever on the carb.A holley I used to have had an adaptor that fit in the hole for my cable to attach to.Don't remember if it came with the carb in the box or got it at a speed shop but I remember having one.
 
i do not have carpet in it either idk if that matter but the main thing is the pedal dosent move far enough to activate my th400 kickdown switch mayb i have it mounted incorrect if anyone has a pic that would be great
