well i was having trouble with my throttle cable binding up on my 86 k5 so i bought a new one while building the motor. i went ahead and also greased the pivot point on the pedal and i noticed the angle of the cable attached to the carb was high because of the edlebrock intake and my carb spacer.

so i raised the throttle bracket. and i can get about 3-4 got pedal presses then the pedal gets hard to push to a certain point and then pop, it goes back to easy pedal.

i know the cable is binding but what would cause the old cable and the new one to both do this?

A pic of the linkage on teh engine might help. So you are saying that you do have the linkage bracket raised to match the linkage on the tbi on the hi rise intake?

i will post a pic tomorrow if i can get the camera to work, and i did raise the bracket to match the linkage on the carb (not tbi) and its almost perfectly level.

I had to get one of these http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/15230/10002/-1 and then the braided steel universal throttle cable kit that......mr gasket I think, makes, and I was able to get it all perfected on mine

what was your setup? and i cant completly tell but does it just bolt to the carb studs?

im running the edlebrock performer intake and 1605 carb

I had a tbi setup, then I went with a bbc, edelbrock intake, and a demon carb. They sell those for the edelbrock carbs as well. Yes it just bolts to the carb studs, so you will need to install some slightly longer studs. Works well though.
