What is it used for? Does it need to be hooked up when running a sm465?

If you are talking about the sensor bolted to the passenger side of the injector pump, on the TH400, it is used to tell the tranny when to shift and on the 700R4 it is used to tell the converter when to lock-up. If that is what you are asking about, then no, you don't need it for the manual trans.

That is what I am talking about. I am tring to remove as much of the wire harness that is not needed, what else can I remove without worrying?
