Does the throw out bearing need to be oriented a certain way? I noticed that the center section of it is not round, but rather sort of tear-drop shaped. If it's oriented the wrong way, would this prevent me from being able to shift easily.

I just installed my trans. w/ the hydro clutch and I'm not able to get the clutch to disengage quite enough to shift gears. I am hoping that it is because I need to bleed the system better. However, the previous owner of the hydro stuff didn't unhook the hydraulic lines so as to prevent me from needing to bleed the system. So, I'm hoping it's the need to bleed it more. However, I'm wondering if I could have installed the master cylinder in a spot that doesn't quite have enough piston travel to push the slave far enough. I'm pretty sure I got it in the right spot though.

Note: I was able to get the truck to shift successfully in 2nd through 4th gear a couple of times. 1st (Low) and reverse, however, I wasn't successful at all. I'm hoping that this indicates an issue with bleeding, not MC location.

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm tired from working on the damn thing, so I'm done for the day. I could do pics if needed, tho.

I just picked up an '86 K10 4spd truck for parts. Could I help you verify your mounting position with some measurments? Hopefully you are correct with the thought of bleeding it.
