My 84 blazer has developed a ground of some sort. Seems to be coming from inside the distributor. My cheap Autozone code puller narrowed it down to a code 41, which says bear with me, cam sensor failure or cylinder select error, tach input error no input pulses during engine run, electric spark timing circuit open or shorted to ground during engine run, direct ignition system fault bypass circuit open or shorted to ground during run, or ignition system fault loss of 1x reference pulse signal. It does not act up all the time, acted up last week, and pressed on the top of the distributor and the problem went away. Heard it when I parked the car when I got home tonight. I took a look around with the ignition on and could not see any spark, can only hear it. I have still been driving it but it seems to have a little bit of an off idle, but still gets me from point a to point b. I'm going to call my mechanic in the morning and see what they say, which will be "bring it in", they are good just was overbooked therefor a little bit slow. Any ideas on what the problem is?

You will get a code 41 when you disconnect the EST wire (Electronic Spark Timing) in order to time the engine. That code will clear itself after 50 start cycles or you can pull the ECM fuse and that will clear the code as well.
