87 K5 just did serp belt swap and now throwing serp belt.
Part # on belt is dayco 6PK2460.
All new parts but crank pulley, water pump pulley and power steering pulley.

Any ideas?

image.jpg image.jpg You can see on the Crank pulley and idler pulley slipping off.

All other pulleys are good. Pulleys came off 95 C1500 4.3. Idler is new

My crank pulley is 3-1/8" tall. Off a 92 caprice
The one on my 95 gen v bbc is 3-1/4" tall...

You can see the belt riding up on the lip of the crank pulley. Im thinking one of the pulleys is slightly offset of the others, or ya got something cockeyed

How is the alignment off power steering pump to water pump. The water pump pulley has no alignment or containment before going to crank pulley. There is also no alignment or contain on the pulley between the crank and the AC. How is the alignment from AC to tensioner pulley to alternator to power steering pump. Form the picture it looks to be miss aligned coming from the water pump. If that is the case, it point to power steering pulley. power steering out of alignment will cause the water pump to be out of alignment and thus the crank pulley. Second scenario is crank pulley is the one out of alignment.

Use a straight edge going across the face of one pulley to the face of the next. My bet is that one is either not lined up with the others or one is slightly bent. Doesn't take much.

Do you have to put a reverse rotation water pump on when you do a serp belt swap ?...

Yep, long straight edge will tell you a lot.

Lesson learned clean tools up when you use them!!!! I noticed power steering pulley was not all way back and was like wtf tool stopped. Then tried tool tonight and noticed was not threading great free handed, so broke out some brake cleaner and sprayed it down the lubed with some oil. Works like new again and pulley went all way on. No more belt coming off.

Test drive Tuesday to work and if all good will replace orfice tube install new lines and charge.
