I've seen this technique used in car audio when making a wall/baffle that has to fit an odd shape in a car.

I did not know that tool had a name. My dad had multiple sizes, he made in steel, decades ago. I do not know what happened to them. I will bet money they were tossed as scrap.

You can make one, it's not specific, just needs a recognizable shape with edges than can be located and a pointer

His did not look like that one. He did circles in the center. Was easier to go around the outside then in the holes. I used them a few times on floors in racecars.

It's possible many of us have something in the shop that could be used for this right now. The thing you want to avoid is having 2 similar ones.
