exhaust leak. Need manifold gaskets probably. You may break bolts trying to remove the manifods. Be careful

Idano, both SBC's i have have this problem. One had a broken bolt, which i f'd up trying to extract.

Really, best way to know is to have someone experienced listen to the noise. Until you have someone tell you thats what it sounds like, how would you describe it?

dont know much about motors yet. i had a 89 350 that did the same thing. hit the gas a bit the ticking got faster too. was told it could be a lifter??? what do ya think?

My 93 pickup does it . Start up is noisiest , then it quiets as oil pressure comes up , then its just a little noisy as I drive , and most quiet after warmup .

This is my first owning of a roller cam motor , so I don't know whats what as far as noise goes . I do know the damn thing pulls strong , and it has since I bought 14,000 miles ago at 188,000 miles .
