Other than the fact that the grease looks a little old, I can't see anyhting wrong in the pics. What do you see that concerns you?

it is kindof cocked up to the front and its missing the plastic/rubber thing and i can easilly spin the tie rod to put it back the way it should be

Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the ends for any play. It would be a good idea to get the rubber dust cover thing back on the one end if it's still good, otherwise replace it.

thanks for the help guys...just got back from auto zone and got the new TRE..only 20 so well worth it in my eyes

The tie rod should be able to swivel in the joint........

And if you plan on replacing parts, please don't opt for the cheapest stuff you can find. If you wanna start swapping in new front end parts, spend the coin and buy yourself some quality Moog parts.

ok thanks for clearing that up. the only reason why i went with the autozone 20 dollar special was because i just wanted a temp fix to see what it would do. it was pretty worn so i figured i would just through one of those in and if i decide to keep it in it has a lifetime warranty. i mean replacing it is not gonna hurt anything..it was missing the rubber thing and it moved alot easier than the one i put in does so i`m hopin it helps a bit

hey do you think you could give me some info on Moog i might buy some of their stuff when i start doin some wheelin

4get it i`m returnin it!

i was mislead on the play...my buddys dad said thats how they get as soon as you drive once with it in so i`m steeling the rubber thing and returnin it!!!!

i love ripping off stores!!!even thought the rubber things cost them 10 cents oh well!!:haha: :haha:

The little thing you've pointed to with the arrow is a grease fitting. There should be a small threaded hole on the bottom of the TRE that the grease fitting screws into.

Thats the grease zert, thread it into the back in the little hole, Then when its back on your rig pumb it full of grease with a gun. Good idea to regrease after offroad use to keep dirt/water out of the joint.

For the $20 I would have just swapped it in...in fact I would have got a pair and swapped them both in. It's pretty hard to replicate that 'play' when the TRE isn't attached to anything.

i installed the other one and it was the exact same so i took it back out and kept the rubber thing and put my other one back on
