Tie Rod reamer help

This isn't a "wanted" thread Per Se But I need to ream out my pitman arm to the GM tie rod. I can't find anyone local to do it. Reamers are ~$85 and I'd only use it once.

Does anyone have a reamer, 1.5" per foot, they would like to sell? Or could I mail mine to you and ream it? Shipping is perfect with a small flatrate $5.20.

Can anyone help me out, plezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm surprised you can't find someone local to do it. I bought my pitman arm from owenst7, and he had it reamed out for a drag link end for $30 at a local machine shop. TRE is the same as a DLE, just not as deep. What about using a sleeve in a straight hole?

I called Ruff Stuff today and asked about those inserts, really nice, but the hole needs to be 7/8 and that doesn't leave a lot of material on the pitman arm. The TRE hole needs to be roughly 3/4", which doesn't sound much smaller, but when we're talking about steering components....

The tapers are the same for TRE and DRE? The only person I've been able to find that even HAS a tappered reamer, it only goes to 5/8".

As I understand it, from owenst7 (you could PM him...), the difference is the depth of the ream. DLEs are a deeper taper than the TREs.

I had that pitman reamed out prior to having a falling out with a shop I'll refrain from bathmouthing publicly. They're the only place in town I knew of that could do it.

One of these days I will buy a reamer. XKut is always on backorder when I have the extra cash available.

And ya, the tapers are the same, the diameter of the DLE is just bigger than the TRE.

I have read of a Snap-On reamer that you can get on Amazon for about $30 that is "close enough"

You'd probably have the best luck posting on Pirate. Pretty much everyone uses the same taper.

Considering I just spent $$$$$$ with WFO, should do it for free dammit It's an idea.
