My truck has a tilt column on it, and its loose as hell.

Everyone here wants $100 to fix it.. I dont mind spending a few bux on a wheel puller, but after that... Im lost.

Does anyone have directions with photos, or a link to a page that does... on how to tighten up the column please?

The wheel has 4 inches of vertical play and honestly, is dangerous. And since its my daily driver, Id place this repair as a priority.

TIA,
Andrew

Check out the tech section. I did a writeup on it a while back with pics.

Most of the time it's just four screws that need tightened up, but in the case as in mine, with the 2wd Burb here, it's the whole bearing assembly that's basically gone. Needs complete tear down and parts replaced, or even easier, just replace the whole column with a good one.

I went back and tried to install the left over piece with no luck.:doah:

It's been working good, no problems at all after the fix.

Some people can do them in about 45 minutes.... I have done 2...I will never do another....the one in my 89 I paid some one to do....$100 is cheap.....

IF I had it do do over, I would swap the column for a Billy Goat and then shoot the Farking goat.....
