What is the best thing to do if I want to replace
the terrible tilt steering on a 88 chevy K5 ?

Tear it apart and use thread lock on the bolts that always seem to loosen up causing the wiggle that it aquires.

I've had to do this to 3 of my vehicles, and one i had to do twice, didn't use thread lock on it.

It's a PITA, but it can be repaired and hold. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Where are you located?

Thanks for the tip 4xcrazy.
I was looking for some sort of after market steering column
but for now this will have to work.
I found the detailed instructions for this job here on the site wow that was a relief. Previously when I took it apart I just tightened 2 of the four bolts and did not remove the bowl.
BTW I live in San Diego

Yeah, i can generally only get to 3 of them, one of the 3 is pretty touogh though, i just removed them, put on some loc-tite and reinstalled them, and haven't had a problem since.

It's a Pain in the bootay, but i still think it's worth it to keep the tilt column. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
