Anyone on here ever put a toyota body on a k5 chassis? Thinking of putting an 89 toyota extended cab and front clip onto my 79 k5 chassis. Probably lose the rear bed and build a tube deck of sort. K5 already 4 linked in the rear so i'm thinking of cutting off frame from rear axle back. Obviously some tube work in the rear for a new gas tank and coilover supports. My concern is mostly the cab fitment. Fitting fenders around my 7.4 might be a challenge. Possibly rear mount radiator im thinking. Steering? Hmmm.....

Friend of mine is just starting, but he's no where close to cab mounting yet

Haha, no. He avoids forums like the plague

Maybe stretch the fenders? The Cramer bros. did that on 80s S-trucks quite a while back and made it look really good but those fenders also lent themselves to the idea pretty nicely. Not sure how the 80's toy fenders would work but that's about the only way to make the engine bay big enough to do truck stuff.

I know people have shoved big blocks and 6.2 diesels into s10 engine bays, the toy engine bay is similar size.

Moving the battery and radiator out of the engine bay would make it easier

Yeah, definitely the radiator. Battery not a bad idea. Would improve the center of gravity. Not looking for a highway rig, off road only. Still just in the planning phase.
