i removed my old system a few months ago, been jones'n for bass again. this time i want to try and keep as much cargo space as possible. i want to go with a 5 channel amp, and a single 10" or 12" sub in the sidepanel cargo area,. thinking about the kicker L7. i'll be re-using my infinity 6.5 components in front and 6x9's in the back seat.

i wanna to this fairly cheap. 500$ max. looking at these two amps...

Keep in mind that the Kicker L7 is a power hungry subwoofer. I'm currently running a 12" DVC L7 and I'm feeding it a steady from a 1200+ watt MMATS D200hc. In all honesty, if you're going with a 5 channel amp ( Note, I think both Phoenix Gold and Hifonics are good choices. ) you'll need a sub that is in the 200 to 300 watts RMS range. First one that comes to my mind is the TSi series from TREO Engineering. www.treoonline.com/tsi.html

thanks for the reply. how much does that treo go for? any other suggestions for a low power sub? im looking for something geared more towards SQ, since all my previous systems have been lacking in that department/

TREO Engineering are great for SQ. The TSi series http://www.treoonline.com/tsi.html sounds perfect for your app. Or even the TSX http://www.treoonline.com/tsx.html . Not sure on price, call 1-800-530-5925 that's TREO's office in Omaha, Ne. (Where TREO Engineering is made) I'm sure they can hook you up with the nearest dealer to you. I'm a huge fan of the TREO subs. I have a few friends running them and they are some of the best sounding subs I've ever heard. I'm put them in the same class as Resonant Engineering and Digital Design. RE makes a great sub in your target power range too. http://www.reaudio.com/html/ Look at the RE series subs, or DD's 1000 series would fit the bill also http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/caraudio/woofers.asp?series=1000 . I tend too go for the high end car audio, as I'm sure you can see by the stuff I've posted links for.

Infinity. I run the Infinity Kappa speakers, love them, sound great, Infinity is famous for thier Kappa series speakers. I couldn't tell you about thier subs or amps.

ive been reading alot of good things about the kappa perfect subs. i think i will use these with this hifonics amp:

not sure what arrangement of subs i should use tho. single 10"? single 12"? dual 10's?

the 10 and 12"s both have 350w rms rating in a SVC 4ohm

or there's this one:

maybe run it as a free air sub? that would make mounting it on the side panel alot easier. not sure how good a free air sub would sound, never heard one before.
