Well it has been cold and the truck has been running ok. But it's starting to load up (fouling plugs) and my secondary (rear lowest jets) are pissing out fuel to the point where it's puddling up under the jets (AT IDLE) :dunno::confused:. So since it's nicer outside i'm going to start from the basics. First by checking the fuel pressure. Then I am going to tear into the carb and see what I can find. Wish me luck.

Maine... warming up? lol.
I know that was almost a joke. lol. It's not warm but it's not COLD. Last night it was so cold it was hard to breath I think I need to run 10W30 (i'm running 10W40 now) in my truck during the winter time again it has knocked every time I have started it up the past two weeks. COLD.

Ok I just checked my pressure it's running 8.5-9PSI. I ran it long enough to drain the carb. When i went to fire it back up it ran for a few sec died (duh no fuel in the carb.). Then i cranked it back up and there was a puddle of fuel inside both the primary and secondary venturis then fuel started bubbling up from the skylights and going down the side of the carb. so i started it back up and it was fine.

You need a fuel pressure regulator. Carbs shouldn't have more than 7psi. If they do they blow by the needle & seat.

It's warm here too about 30*. I'm going out to work on the truck now.

Hello,
It's a Edelbrock Performer Series 600 cfm. Model# 1406. (elec choke). I put a Edelbrock Performer Series 600 cfm. Model# 14054. (manual choke) on it today and it stopped flooding and started to lean the motor out. I tore the carb apart and there was dirt in it. I put it all back together and stuck it on the truck just so it wouldn't get dirty.

What carb? If its a Q-jet you are running about 3X too much fuel pressure and that's why its running rich.

I ordered a FUEL REGULATOR part# MRG-9710. I'm going to tear into my carb again and double check everything. Reset the floats to 7/16. I will post the update when I get the regulator installed.
Thanks
Adam

Well I installed the fuel Reg. I got from summit. I set it to 5.5psi I tore the top of my carb off and my floats where all screwed up. So I took them out and checked my needle and seats they where clean. I still cleaned them out of GP. Then I reinstalled my floats and reset them to Edelbrock spec of 7/16" closed and 1" open I put it all back together and the truck started right up no problems. For GP I checked the fuel pressure it sat at 5.5PSI running at idle. I looked down the carb it was dry as a bone. Needles to say I'm in a great mood. I'm, still going to clean my plugs up.
Thanks
