timing a TBI 350

I'm so glad I swapped in a carbed zz4 in my '91...

Glad I have no smog checks here, at least no until 2012 at which time my state switches to california standards. I am thinking that anything I do before that time will be exempt on the basis that not being exempt would constitute an ex-post-facto law.

Are you f-ing kidding me, Mn is goin to do the same thing as cali?

Well, it appears that I will be finding a different state to reside in within the next few years.

Not to worry, all states are going to eventually adhere to California standards. We need to even the playing feild, California isn't the only state that makes polution. :D

I agree, but it is the most poluted state I ever lived in. In So Cal that smog was terrible when I left in 86. I can not even imagine what it looks like now.

Nowadays whats the point really, how many cars on the road are not OBDII? around here I bet its 25-30% not to mention the tiny number of cars that are carbureted and are still driven.

All that really needs to be done is a visual, see that the cat is still there and theres no CE light. do it up to the time the car is 20 years old.

All I see is a big waste of money, by trying to persecute a small number of people that the eco nazis are after.

I guess I better get a jump start on finding a pre 75 cab.

I feel like a lot of teh so cal pollution comes across the border too. At least a part of it.

I would highly doubt that all states would adhere to the commie rules in CA. I know that UT won't be doing it, there are only four counties that require emissions in this state. I don't live in any of the four.

Your turn is coming brother, trust me on that.

I also think it's BS that we have such strict emissions testing when the majority of the polution is coming from the factories that get to pay their way out of dealing with "smog control". Yep, just hand the government a nice fat check and they don't see anything.

I have been hearing that for 20+ years, it isn't going to happen.:D If it does, you can bet we will be fighting to prevent forcing old vehicles to meet unrealistic standards. My county already has the number one air polluter in the nation, good luck trying to force all the citizens to meet an arbitrary standard created by a bunch of commies in California.:D Especially when we have a governor who doesn't believe in global warming, and a state congress that is arguing about it as well.

I couldn't agree more. Utah's tests in the four counties don't allow exemptions for anything newer than 1968, I believe. I have seen my uncle pass with a newly rebuilt Ford 390 that tested better than new cars on the road with no cat. We will see what happens, but since the majority of this country dumps their crap in my county, I think we will continue to tell the state to get bent when they try to enforce the emissions testing in our area.
