I've got a 400 small block, hydraulic roller cam. Stupid 16 year old me at the time bought a cheap chinese proform dress up kit for the motor and I'm about 99% sure that the timing cover leaks where everyone says the aftermarket ones do.

What front timing cover do you all run on gen 1 small blocks with hydraulic roller cams that have cam buttons?? I know they require a certain amount of runout, I'm calling Howard Cams tomorrow to also get an opinion from them.

Thanks in advance

I just used the stock timing cover. :dunno: Pulled it off 10 years later, maybe 30,000 miles, no trace of wear. This was with the nylon button.

Called Howards Cams. They said a Milodon Cover which runs about $25 shipped through Amazon. Hopefully this clears up that leak

Dont believe I needed to do anything to it. I was worried when I put it in that maybe it would ruin the cover!

Of course at 7:00 my time when I called I forgot to ask what the clearance value is. I am going to grab some plastigage and double check what their clearance calls for and go from there. Milodon timing cover is on its way so I can put this whole mess to bed finally. Almost a nightmare
