timing trouble

I just found out that my timing advance module has gone out. Will this affect my performance and is it worth repairing? If so, is there a cheap way to do it? Also, could this cause my K5 to bog upon accelerating from a stop light. any info would be greatly appreciated!

Which portion, the mechanical, or the vacuum.

I think it is the vacum because it idles fine. It usually happens after it has been running for awhile.
