I tried everything and then had the idea of stacking a bunch washers in random patterns and using a 22mm and extension to knock it out- it worked!!

Get a big flat screwdriver, bend the last 1.5”-2” to a 45° angle, insert it through the outboard end, get behind the bearing and drive it out.

Doesn’t work. Tried it, broke several- heated up with map gas and everything. This method is so easy.

I don’t know man, I used the method I posted for years without any problems. Now I have the (discontinued) tool.

Ya forgot to say ( after making “adjustments” to the big-azz modified screw driver ) label it as a newly acquired customized and glorified ISB Extractor & Removal Persuasion Device ( it’s all in the naming of the tools ) and give it an honorable specific place in the tool box with all the other customized tools.

In all seriousness it helps to use a higher quality screw driver to modify even though that’s a tuff pill to swallow but chances of it not breaking increase greatly when the BFH goes to work on it.

Tip for going forward - only drive the replacement ISB’s in the pocket just enough to give room for the seals. This will leave enough area behind the bearing to give more room for the extraction device to get a grip and walk it out.

BTW, bonus points for the use of sloppy stacking washers - sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get it done….

Yeah that tool is unobtainium, tried every way I new to find one. Will be keeping an eye out at yard sales.
I acquired mine because my Brother and Partner in Crime left it as a gift in my truck one day while having a breakfast grub session at the ole Cracker Barrel.
BTW, thanks John — a.k.a. @nvrenuf ; this made me feel a little better about him stealing my 454 oil pan with the clearance for those engine to converter pan mount braces a while back.
I just wish that he would have waited until I took the motor outta the truck first !
