I need to paint the top on my 87 4runner. What is the best way to paint the fiberglass. I plan on just doing flat black.

If the paint on it is in good shape, just rough it up, prep and paint. If you are hitting raw fiberglass, you will need a primer. Are you spraying with a gun or are you limited to products that come in rattle cans?

i say just rattle can it. prime it first, though. I painted my half cab that way (full convertible top the PO cut in half) and it surprisingly turned out good.

I got sick of repainting mine every year so I spray lined mine. MUCH BETTER Cost about $155 to do.
