How does one go about removing the front inner axle seals on a 10 bolt axle?

Tips on removing inner-axle seals on 10 bolt front axles

After you get it all taken apart, just use a broomstick or some kind of rod and a hammer. Stick it in the axle housing and tap.

That's how you remove them? Do you remove them the same way if all the gears were still in but the shafts were out?

I took mine apart yesterday - and I doubt you could get them out without pulling the gears. - They are pressed in from the gear side - and the carrier bearings would block the seal from coming out.
