I have it layed out the best I can in the cab of the truck with a space heater going to let it "loosen up"

Any tips to figuring out where the shifters should be in the carpet? They don't have it marked anywhere.

I'm hoping someone has a method to it so I don't end up hacking the crap out of it

With my Lokar shifter, it will be pretty much be the same as a 4WD/4SP, with the two shifters on the hump.

Try and fold it in different directions to get to where you have to make some cuts for the different openings. I have bought remnant carpet for a couple different trucks and you just have to take your time and cut little by little.

Do you have the original carpet that you can use as a template? Otherwise I'd make a template out of heavy paper and then make small relief cuts and go from there.

I'm pulled the OEM rag out of my '77 and used it as a template for the 'custom' model vinyl flooring material. That stuff is a bitch to work with compared to carpet IMHO.

It should be esay to feel where the hole for the shifter is, then use an awl to find screw holes.

What Jason said. Did it very similar to his idea. Doesn;t your lokar shifter stick un bolt at the base? If so can't you just take it off and lay the carpet over the top of the linkage and mark where it makes the carpet stick up a bit? Also, can you post several pics of the lokar setup before you lay the carpet, please.

Carpet looks good, Ben!(saw it in your shifter post). Is that a kit or just a few yards of generic carpet?
