any one got any tips or tricks for getting a heater core out? I have a 88 GMC Jimmy... its got some like completely flat bolt heads on it..

Bolts have the nuts on the engine side of the firewall, there are 4 of em,the one on the bottom right is difficult

its not that bad, but dont forget the one on the passenger side under the dash

I forgot about that one,but he is correct one bolt you take out from the passenger side, take the glove box off and you will see it

If it gives you fits coming off the fire wall take a couple of extensions an smack the studs
Lightly in the engine compartment.

good to know, how long did this take you? im thinking about just doing it tonight..

Not long but save yourself the headace do it in the light
Also the vacuum lines need to be unpluged they are wierd litte plugs
Dont know the name of em but it might help to take a pic before u unplug
them for referance

okay good to know, I shall do it in the morning then right after I drop the head off at the machine shop:doah:

Some say you have to (or its easier) to drop the inner fender for that PITA nut. you dont have to just get a 2-3 extensions, deep well socket and a elbow (u-joint socket thingie). Its a **** job but worth it this time of year. good luck!

well, apparently my wife had other plans for me today, we ended up driving around for a bit and did some errands... THEN we drove past the dodge dealership (and a ram has been her dream since ive known here) we ended up trading in our 2013 4runner for a 2015 Ram 1500 and that took ALL day but I paid what I wanted to for it!!

Pretty much how I feel about my blazer, wife suggested I sell it a few years back,I said no way,and that year we had some pretty bad snow and ice storms, she was glad I kept it!

that's awesome!! she had me sell my last one.. but this one she knows ill never get rid of.. and she likes me having something to play/work on
so I don't drive her nuts inside the house.

well finally got it switched out, between having to stop to cook ribs and giving the son a bath and bed time it only took me a total time from start to finish 6.5 hrs..:doah: while I was at it I got my oil pressure switch changed out.. :waytogo:
