my brother just thinks money talks in Santa Ana, he took his cats off his 05 ram, and says when its time to smog it he'll just slip the guy some $. I dont know if it'll work or not, but he's hoping on it
i dont think so, not anymore. ten years ago you could find shops that would just put a different car on the machine and enter your info. for about 200bucks. now the machines are more modern and you cant do that. the smog police also have spies that pose as customers trying to bride the techs, all it takes is one time and your in jail, lose your business, everything. just not worth it anymore.

failed emmision

i have a 1976 blazxer with a carter abf comp. carb. and failed huge today. it said that my hydrocarbons were at 700 which i guess is 3 times the passing limit. i leaned out the carb about as much as i could and it is still running rich. anybody got any ideas before i get suspended? thanks

Yup thats true, its nearly impossible to find anyone that will kick it down like that. I know a former smog tech and he was always telling me about these people they would send in there to catch him at fudging the test. Its pretty sick stuff, one time they sent in a blonde chick with a low cut top and big boobs and she said she really needed it to pass, and shes gonna sell the car soon and cant afford to fix it..blah blah blah. Well it is just the state board trying to nail him for illegally smogging a car. Thats one of the reasons why he doesnt do it no more, he said the bull**** he was going through was just not worth it to be a smog tech.
