tire change resulted more locker engagement

I went from swampers (about 36 inches tall by 11 inches wide) on steel wheels to HMMWV run flats 37 x12.50 and noticed the locker is making a whole lot more noise than it did before. In turns I can hear it squeeling the wheels and sometimes hear a louder BANG! now and again when it's loaded up. I know the run flats are MUCH heavier and taller and wider. Is this probably why?

What kind of locker?

Jimmy looks great! Nice Sliders how are they attached, and Your bumper is awesome!
 
Sorry i did not read:doah:. My wife's detroit in her old cj-7 did the same thing in tight turns. I chalked it up to a reminder it was working!
 
Pop the cover and makesure something is not on its way out. I'md reading doing this. My locker is twice as loud since I built my bed and did some other stuff to the truck...
 
If you want to know how a detroit behaves in a truck with big heavy tires, I'll take you for a ride in my truck Hubnut. Bangs, clunks, squeals tires around every corner, tries to change lanes on hard shifts.. all kinds of awesome fun things!

Part of these could be my driving. =)

Thanks for the post. Yeah, I forgot to mention that it will try to change lanes on hard acceleration. I figure until it falls out, everything is hunky dory.

I made the sliders myself. They are attached to the frame with outriggers and attached to the roll bar in the cab. They are really attached in 6 different positions. All bolted on. They make good jack points too.
 
Sounds like a normal detroit to me. Put stock sized tires on it and you'll really know it's there. :D
 
when I first started driving the truck with these tires it spooked me. I did figure out a few things that help some. Make sure the tire pressure is as even as possible between the rear tires. I have a balance tube made that airs up both tires at once. Also higher tire pressures make for less jerking, squealing and lane changing.
 
I don't think it's the tire change, but the wheel change. The HMMWV's have the crazy offset, right, so your tires are prolly tucked in a bunch more, i.e. the track is reduced?

I'm thinking, as I wave my hands in the air, that the reduced track width would result in in more RPM difference in turns, which would set off the locker more. It'd be the same as turning tighter all the time, right.
