I'd like your opinions on tire size. I have an 87 3/4 ton i just got done doing the 52" swap because i want to be able to stuff the tires. do you think 39.5 IROK's or 40" MTR's or 42" IROK's would be better.
the fenders are already whacked are the 42's getting too big? cooler to do more with less? in the future i will probably shorten the frame for a 118-120" wheelbase trying to build a trail machine. wondering if 42's are more trouble than they're worth. anyone running 42's? what kind of backspacing does it take? Thanks for the input

If you plan on any mud at all don't get Mtr's, Irok's seem like a well rounded tire. I wouls get the biggest you can get you always regret getting the smaller ones!

Did you guys see the 4wor tire mudtest?I know it cause I run my 37's in the mud quite a lot,but a lot of people were surprised at how good the MTR's are in the mud.Outpulled everything in the test but the swamper and bogger.Beat a lot of other tires-6 or 7 I think.Extremely strong sidewalls,too.My .02 BTW,I have tried most of the others,too.

mtr's=bfgoodrich mud terrain :confused: :dunno:

I run TSL/sx's myself and like them, but I have several buddies that run MTR's. Good sidewall strength and grip really well on the rocks and dirt. Do pack up with mud but nothing that wheel spin can't clean.
That being said, out of the choices, I'd sugest 39.5 or 42 IROKS, those things kick ass everywhere that I've seen. :D

get the 42s. I agree I allways wish i just spent the xtra $190per tire and got the 44s

Not to be an ass but to point out that within the realm of tires he was asking about the mtr's suck. And as far as I'm concerned any tire over 37's the only choice is a swamper or bogger. I've rode in trucks with almost every tire out there and I'll only run boggers period!

well said backyard, boggers grip on everything and are tuff as heck. i enjoy them as well and also rode in pritty much every rig with about every kind of tire, and i like boggers and gumbo mudders.

IE. i run 38.5 gumbo's front and 38.5 boggers out back
hehehehe
