Tire height difference

My cc has 285/7516s on it now and my front tires need replacing badly.I want to go to a 295/75 for the front and cant afford to change them all.Anyway the specs say there is @ 1/2 inch difference,is this enuff to cause the t/c to bind? The only off road is loose beach sand and at slow speeds{no more than 15mph}.The drivetrain is 6.2 400/205. thanx

its only 10 percent difference,but it may be enough to make it bind a lil bit.i think the 205 could handle it in the sand.i wouldnt take it anywhere where dry pavement or hard dirt would be an issue with binding.

Soooo it turns out my dually only had 235/85r16 on it.I just purchased used 285/75r16s wodering if they will fit without a spacer in rear? anybody? thanx scott

285s are roughly 31-32", that's about what mine measure out to anyway. I've seen 32"s fit under stock 4x4 square bodys all the time. Check the sticky "how would my 4x4 looks with XXX tires and XXX lift"

I don't think so.
In theory you'll have 2" less clearance between the tires, since the tires are 2" wider.
But since you're still using the same wheels, the section width of the 285 wont be that much bigger, but probably still big enough to cause problems.

How much clearance do you have between the tires now with the 235's?

285 will not work without spacers - my 235s on the stock wheels have less than 1/2" between them.......

I just got done puttin 285's on my dually, granted a fair bit newer. Anyway, I have a 1.5" spacer between the duals and only have about 1/2" of clearance. Wish I had gone with 2" spacers, but then they woulda been way outta the fenders and I cant afford the dual wheel flares yet. Once I get those, then I will prob buy a set of the 2" spacers.

Looks like I will need to find spacers. Any recommendations?
