Tire mounting what do you pay

I always mount my own as well. Hit the hobby shop on base. Every base I have ever been at has a tire machine. If you don't know how to use it I am sure they'll help you out or show you how. It usually a few bucks per tire at the hobby shop. Way cheaper than having a tire store do it, and plus you'll learn something new:D

The hobby shop can go to...

Well, nevermind, don't get me started on those guys. The whole system is a scam, and I'm a cheapskate.

Yeah I guess it just depends where you are at. I know the Navy base in Fallon, NV had a pretty good shop. The people there were good too cause it was all run by active duty.

I mount mine in the driveway by hand, it is pretty easy. With the race trucks it seems like I'm always mounting and dismounting 35 and 37 inch tires. About two years ago I took five 37's over to the Discount Tire in Santee to get mounted and balanced for street use. They wanted just short of $140, of course I laughed and left. Went down the street to the Santee WalMart and they did them for $7.50 each and that included a lifetime re-balance warrenty. If you don't do them yourself I'd check out WalMart.

I go to Sears. They charge me $8 a tire. I used to work at the Sears Automotive that I go to as a sales rep, therfore I know all the machanics. I go back into the shop, and ask the best guy I know back there to do the job for me.

i have a local shop that did all 4 of mine plus stems for 25 bucks :p: Took them 41/2 hours because the tire sidewalls were compressed because i had them stacked for 5 months lol :p:

Nothing.:D I just recently learned to use my tire spoon, and some starting fluid.
I've been doing that for years . BOOOOMM ! Always scares the crap out of the neighbors and sends my cats running in all different directions :haha: . The big tires are pretty easy to get on as they have some pretty big flexy side walls . I tried mounting a low profile 205-40-17 one time and that sucked  . for normal tires it's about $15 each and most shops charge double for any tire over 38" because they use 2 guys as they claim the tires are heavy :surepal: (wuss) .

Yeah, it's kinda cool to see the first time. Unfortunately I was doing 16.5's, so there was no drastic boom of a safety bead seating. We get to do a set of 16's this weekend though. :D
