What are the tire options for lifted duallies these days? I'm looking for something in the 36" range that's narrow enough to run on stock rims. My current tires are 9.00x16 Power Kings. I originally planned to get another set, but I procrastinated and they are discontinued now.

The main goals are aggressive tread and not too modern looking. Best I can tell, the Q78 TSL is about my best option. I'm not opposed to a radial tire, but I don't know of any that are tall, narrow and aggressive.

OK so I been trying to figure this out for 2 years since I built mine. I pretty much have the tallest narrow tire being the blogger though. They actually ride nice on out platform but they are noisy and the front are cupping fast. 38.5x11x16 only measure about 36"

Im assuming you're keeping your 16" wheels?

Here's my notes but I'm sure the $ isn't the same for much. I'm looking for a radial since it's not driven every day but I'm also trying to keep a classic look.

325/80r16 =37x12.5
*315/75r16 just over 35"x12. 5 firestone
9.00r16 36.1x9.6" Michelin xzl
11.00r16 about 38x11

285/70r19.5=35.3" but $500ea
Coker/STA SUPER Lug 8ply 260ea

35x10.5r16 interco/swamper SSR-41R $335
(radial)

*285/75r16=32. 33x11.22 firestone mt2
(Radial)

At this point I think I'm going with a 315/75r16 despite being so wide. I do run forged billet steel 2.5" rear spacers to fit

That's a damn good compilation of options.

I'm not married to the 16's, but I would like to keep them.

I did not realize that the skinny boggers actually measured that small. If that's the case, I would actually choose those over the TSL's. Tire wear isn't really an issue for me because I hardly drive the truck. But on the other hand, if I got rid of the rotten 20 year old tires, I'd probably start driving it a lot more.

I dunno. Maybe the 315/75's make enough sense to just go that route and deal with the wider look.

IMHO wider on a 16" wheel looks way better than the Jo's with stretched tires on 20's+

315s are pretty wide for stock 16s. My Ford had them on it when I got it. 6" wide stock wheels. They work fine on a 7" rim. My K5 has 315s on 7" wide rims. I dropped to 295/75R16 BFG ATs but they are still kinda wide for these rims. My other option was the 255/85R16 but I wasn't sure how it would look with the lift that is on my dually. I sure wish they made a 35/10.5R16 in more tires for the dually guys but all newer duallies are 17" wheels or bigger.

Bumping this thread back up. I milked a couple of my tires way longer than I should have. But I just haven't been happy enough with any one option to pull the trigger on all new tires. So recently I went ahead and bought a pair of the STA Super Lugs in the 9.00x16 size. I'm running them up front. They are a great tire, they are round and they are even load range G. But they just don't have the cool and aggressive "look" to them. I can still get more use out of the rears, not sure at all what I'll eventually replace them with.

Both nice looking trucks! I like the look of the super lugs, they look period correct aggressive. Anyone making wider 16” dually wheels like they do with the rally’s?

I haven't come across any. Most guys step up to 20" dual wheels as they come in a wider size like 8" or 8.75" for a milled down 22.5 semi truck wheel. I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos on widening your own steel wheels. Pretty common in Europe for cars due to the availability of wider wheels. Member Ryoken(?) has dual 37s on his truck that were put on custom wheels from DIY4X. I think they might be 16.5s for military tires.
I'm running 295/75R16 BFG A/Ts on my super duty but they are too wide for the factory 16x6 wheels and wear on the center of the tread mostly. Probably drop to a 255/85R16 next time.

What's the total measurement at ride from pavement to the top of tire?

Just seen these on a YouTube channel I watch. A little too tame for me. Nitto Recon Grappler A/T comes in a 37/11.50R17 load range D 65 psi.

I don't recall on that one. I'd guess a smidge over 35". The tires measured about 35" off the rims, then a little over 36" once mounted and inflated.

Were those the Q78's?
They were 38x12.50x16.5 Swamper TSL’s.

That truck was only 11 years old when I bought it and it was pure virgin bone stock before my 24 year old testosterone maxed out ten foot tall & bulletproof self decided it needed a little more tire under it - now my 54 year old self would be content with just a few inches of lift and about a 33” tire if I still had that truck.
I wish I would’ve been smart enough to hold on to that thing and bring the tire and lift back down to reasonable sizes…
