I am running an 84 Blazer k5. It is lifted 4 inches on suspension, spring in front and blocks in the rear, and a 3 inch body lift, for a total of 7 inches. I am currently sitting on 37x12.5x15 Interco TSL Radials. The rims are what I assume to be 15x10. I don't have jack stands, so I am unable to pull off the tire and measure the backspacing. I just ordered new rims and tires. I ordered the Mickey Thompson classic 2, http://www.4wheelparts.com/wtProdDetail.aspx?partNo=M/T379412&step=2b, it has a 4.5 inch backspacing and a 12mm offset. I talked to a guy at the 4 wheel parts store here in Fresno, CA and he mentioned maybe needing wheel spacers to prevent rubbing the leaf springs. When I ordered them the guy I spoke to on the phone made no mention of needing spacers. I hope that I don't because that will be a few more days that I have to wait. I am hoping that somebody will tell me that they are running those rims or something similar without wheel spacers and not having any problems. He said if they rub to avoid full lock turns, I already avoid those at the advice of my mechanic, my truck has a tendency to break steering gear boxes. Sorry for the long winded post and thanks.

I deal backspacing is around 4" or a bit less. I'd say that backspacing might just give you issues. Watch your drag links and leaf springs on hard right turns.

this came up in another post recently, H2 rims are 5.5 bs and they work fine with 35's supposedly. If so 4.5 sould be fine with 37's. I dont know for sure but its what came up so ,,,,, hope this helps

I'd be worried about the tire rubbing on the inside like mine did when I ran a wide tire on stock rims. That's more backspacing than stock so it will pull the tire inside under the truck more on the inside edge.

thats what i figured too but they insisted they work:dunno: I was telling the guy 5.5bs wouldnt work that i knew but some one else showed pictures of one with the h2's

I dunno...maybe the 17" rim clears steering stuff but I'd still be worried about the suspension.

installed tomorrow

I get them installed tomorrow and aligned. I will update you guys on what happens. As is it now the rims and tires that are on the truck don't rub any steering components, but the fronts do stick out a bit from under the fender, and as I said, I am jackless at the moment so I have not been able to check backspacing or to see if spacers were on the truck already. I'm just assuming some spacers might be on because of the difference in the way the tires sit from front to back. I will also post a picture or two if i figure this site out.

Stock on these GM's the front axle is 3" wider than the rear axle. Doesn't get apparent until you go to a larger tire size that fills up the wheel well more.

Oh come on you just spent how much money on wheels and tires, throw a jack in the cart too, its like the most used tool... EVER!!!! haha. :thumb:

I can't imagine 4.5" of BS causing any issues as 4 - 4.25" BS is fairly common on aftermarket wheels.

Regarding AJM's comment:

I'd be worried about the tire rubbing on the inside like mine did when I ran a wide tire on stock rims. That's more backspacing than stock so it will pull the tire inside under the truck more on the inside edge.

This is because of running wide tires on stock (i.e. skinny) wheels. A 9" wide wheel with 12.50 tires do not fit this description at all. Let's say you take two different wheels that both have 4.5" BS. One rim is a stock 6.5" wide and the other is 9" wide. Even though the BS is the same the center line of the wheel/tire is different, with the skinnier rim putting the center line further inboard, and thus the inner edge of the tire closer to the springs and such.

I'd still do a test fit and turn the tire to full lock right and check for clearance on the drag link.

Stock steelies on the 8 lug trucks were 6.5" wide to go with the stock 235/85R16 tires.

They Fit!!!

A 4.5 inch backspacing is not a problem, and no rubbing at all. I am impressed at how much better these BFG's ride that the Interco's. Here are some pictures.
