Hi all!

lisa wanted me to ask you guys what tires you like best for a daily driven SUV. she's mainly looking for something that is a good rain and snow tire, and isn't real concerned about noise..

any suggestions welcome.

The best that I have dealt with is the BFG All Terain. Quiet ride, and very long lasting. They perform well in the rain and snow, and like I said, they last forever.

The pathfinder from discount will outlast a bfg allterain anyday. IMO. They seem to have good road manners and wear very well.

BFG All-terrains. Best all around street tire IMO. I had a set of Pathfinders on my Dad's old F150 and they didn't do as well as BFG's. Me & my Dad use them on all our vehicles (cept my K5 cause its offroad 98% of the time).

I drive my Dodge CTD for a living and I have BFG's on it cause I have to drive to snowy areas a fair amount during the winter. I got about 50-55K out of my last set with minimal rotation on a 7500lb diesel.

a little different

I put some fuzion xti tires on my moms 02 blazer and they look cool and perform well
been on for a year with no apparent wear

I also vote BFG all terrains, I have had several sets and get anywhere from 60 to 90 thousand miles out of them and I have had them on a Ford Exploder, 74 Blazer, A toyota Pickup and Father in law had them on an exploder and an F250 all with great results.

+1 BFG AT. I ran them on our tow rig back in the 80/90's. They did well in all weather and lasted well on a fully loaded C20

We run BFG allterrains on the Wifes Durango and They are AWESOME we have gone every where on them Back and Forth to TEXAS & Oklahoma to Off roading in mud, snow and sand. No problems and they last. Look good too

As much as i agree that the BFG AT is a sweet tire, and i've always wanted a set, they are $$$.

For a street driven DD, that may see some on road snow on occasion, i think they are too agressive. They are quieter than most "off road" tires, but they are still way loud compared to a OE spec tire. Most SUV's today come with Ht (highway tread) style tires, and i think these are too weak. Most new GM's come with HT's unless you get the z71 package, where you get Goodyear Wrangler At/s's. These are definitely on teh weak side of AT's, but better than the HT's in the dirt. From BFG this would compare to a Long trail or rugged trail.

I would reccomend something like a Dueler AT or a Good year Wrangler. They will be significantly cheaper than the BFG's, are still good brand name tires, will wear about the same (AFAIK), and will be way quieter. I've run both those tires on my trucks, and have liked them both for a 95% street use truck. I normally run my air pressure high (like the firmer ride) and drive my truck hard on the street, and get decent life out of both.

I just feel like most ppl are missing the purpose of this truck if they are suggesting BFG AT's, unless i am off base with my assumptions.

Also, I would watch the local craigslist for a set of Stock takeoff's in the same size/lug pattern you need. I buy most tires for my 6 lug GM's off craigslist, for around $400 for a set of rims with NEW tires. 6 lug gm is easier, but shouldn't be too hard to find a durango set if you have an active craigslist in your area.

Need i say more??? lmao

I had a set of Wrangler AT's on my 01 Ram. Looked good, rode great on the road and kicked arse for an AT in mud and rock IMHO. Had mud up over the door windows and she kept on truckin'. Went off camber on the rocks and never slipped. Only time I broke traction on pavement was in a fresh rain going on a green light. Killer tires I think.

I had BFG AT's on my Z71 and I thought they were the best AT made...that is until I replaced them with Bridgstone Duler AT REVOs. Quieter, better dry and wet traction all around, and I even enjoyed them off road just as much if not more than the BFG's. My .02.

i am running nitto terra grapplers on my 00 gmc z71 and love them

Hey, guys! Thanks for all the terrific input about tires for my Durango!!
I appreciate all the replies.
And I must say- before I did a "search" to find this post thread, I was snickering at all the topics y'all talk about. HILARIOUS headings like " nOOb", and my personal fave "I just creamed in my pants."
I haven't READ these threads, but hey. So long as you are all havin' a great time.
Thanx again!
HUGS!

Except for the no flex/steering available, that thing is awesome!!

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. They might be expensive, but they are just about the perfect tire IMHO.

Later,
Buddy

While the BFG A/T may be the best A/T out there for road manners, I will also suggest another tire if something that aggressive isnt needed or wanted. If you want the best street tread tire for a truck/suv definetely go with the Michelin LTX M/S
