I saw on here just now in a differnt treas a tire that came off the wheel and am wondering what the flame is from ans is that some way to re set your tire on the wheel when you are on the trail?

Corey

They sprayed brake cleaner (or ether) into the tire then lit it using a lighter and the spray from the can.

I've always been able to get them back on without fire :dunno:

yeah i dont use fire either, Ive seen it tear up tires before, i always use a ratchet strap if i cant get it seated.

my current 37s wouldn't go on with anything less than LOTS of brake cleaner and fire...we tried and tried and tried and tried and it wouldn't do anything. Tire machine, little ratchet strap, big strap, 2/3/4 people trying to hold it perfectly, NOTHING. We spent almost an hour on the first one. The other 3 were done in about 15 mins after that.

As for why they wouldn't go on, i have NO clue. I had some 36" goodyear wrangler rt/iis on there before and they went on fine with just a ratchet strap. Wheels are 16.5x8.25...same size as the humvee wheels both sets of tires started life on. One set went on when it was cold no prob, but the other set wouldn't AT ALL when it was barely less than hot.

I vote try every other way possible first...if it comes down to it, brake cleaner or ether typically works...but its definately not my first choice.

i ran a 39x18.5 bogger on a 16.5 rim with no safety bead, i got one bead off the rim. thought it was hopeless, got the tire back back on the rim using wrenches and screwdrivers but it wasnt even close to the bead, tried straps didnt come close. sprayed it with starting fluid and lit it and just kicked it once. it popped right on, i was pretty impressed.

wel you can take it off, then where the bead is off you can put a bottle jack or high lift on it and then jack a truck up by the axle (while not being underneath so it doesn't fall on you) and it sometimes pops it back on..

or break fluid and a lighter :)
