I have now(came with the truck) BFG Rugged Trails on my 2011 3500 Dmax Dually. I do a decent amount of towing for my construction company. Dump trailer weighing in at 14000 lots of tongue weight, equipment trailers etc. The truck weighs around 9000 with me in it and my loaded bed box when I rolled out of the scrap yard the other day. I also do about 30-40000 miles per year.

Even with this weight driving in the rain was horrible. I also frequent driving down the beach for surf fishing, which these tires also are horrible with.

So, I am looking for suggestions, recommendations, horror stories, and just general options for those who do lots of driving in a dually that is used a lot for work and towing. Not looking to exceed 245x75xr17. Sticking with the stock dually gm 17s I have at least for this set of tires. Obviously E rated blah blah blah. Was looking at Toyo Open Country AT 2's as an option. I have had BFG ATs on all of my past vehicles but never the new ko2s and never a dually. Ugh longevity, efficiency, wear....

Thanks!

I just put At2's on my Burb and I LOVE them. Obviously not in the same weight class on your truck, but I was driving through the snow storm this weekend in 2WD for the most part.

x2 on BFG ATs. Best all around tire IMO. I deviated and tried Mastercraft Coursers (basically the Cooper Discoverers which is a good tire) on my current set of tires. They're wearing well but tend to hold gravel in the tread, are a little louder then the BFGs and I don't think they have as good traction in wet/ snow. I saved some $$ on the mastercrafts but I'll pony up the extra and go back to BFGs next set.

Nice guys. Thanks! I've been debating haha. I've always ran straight BFG ATs. I have been wondering about the 2's. After I'm done tearing stuff up this winter. I have grooves in my rears right now from all the sideways action with these wet slushy roads! Way to easy right now. :burnout:

I have a few buds who run the 2's. I'm considering them......I am trying to be opened minded these days haha

I work there so I get 50% off Bridgestone's so its kind of a good deal, a bit.

Have some friends that run them and they seem to like them.

They should be on my tow rig in a few weeks or so will know by then.

I put toyos on my dually and they did well with the @4000# camper out back. I went with them because of the e rating and i upsized to 295sX16 I think they look cool too!

I ran the Mastercrafts on my last 3. It was hard to spend the coin on a super high dollar set because I new I was going to chew them up. Another option like the Mastercraft is the wild country brand , both are made by cooper and are quality tires.

We use a lot of the DynaPro ATM's here at work and they hold up great on the road and underground in the mine. A friend has them on his Ford Diesel and the wear is good as well as traction. Plus the price isn't bad either on a 10 ply tire.

So a set of Cooper Discoverer ST 10ply's just came into my work with about 90% tread on them. I can pick up the whole set of 285/75/16's for $100. That being said, anyone ran these?

I figure for $100 doesn't matter if they get me 20k miles.

That was my thoughts. Just curious on their road manors. Had a set of 33x12.50 BFG's that felt very unstable towing with on an old tow rig. Switch those out for 285/70/17 guard dogs, and it was a totally different feel.
