To start, i'm going to soon be in the market for a new set of tires for the jimmy. currently, its sitting on a set of worn out pro comp xterrains. And i'll be honest, they are not that good anywhere. i'll tell a little about my rig, so i can try to help you help me. its a 71 jimmy - 6" superlift w/o blocks, currently riding on 35/12.5's. 350/465/205 and D44/12bolt. i don't plan on going any taller, but after using my friends boggers (16/35-15) and not being able to turn all the way, i might open up my fenders a little more (not gonna go crazy with a sawzall, gonna try my best to keep it clean).

What i'm mainly lookin at is a set of 14/35-15 Ground Hawgs. but word on the street is that interco quit making them. i'm not 100% certain, but i hope not. i know that they wear like iron and kick tail in mud.
Also, I'm lookin at General grabbers. i haven't heard much about them, but they seem like they would do quite well nearly everywhere.

Any advice, or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

.

you keep on talking dirty to me and your gonna have to marry me....

i will never own any other tire.... hawgs 100%.. now i dont have it as a daily driver... but i have yet to be dissappointed...

i thought about boggers next.. after i wear these out.. but that will only be if i get stuck.... but i doubt it...

I know this may seem like a really stupid question:doah:, but Where do you buy them from? i'm not going through 4wheelparts. And its not like i can walk into wally world and tell them to slap a set on for me. I've never bought NEW tires before... hence how i ended up with pro comps... $125 for a set of 4 with half tread and i needed some tires pretty bad

now i dont have it as a daily driver...

Mines not quite a daily driver either, but you know if money a little more plentiful, it would be :D

wow our first quarrel!!!!!! :haha:

umm i bought mine from 4wheelparts

dunno what the quarrel is about...

yall complain about it.. and dont buy hearing about others...

i bought 4 40" hawgs... 16.5x12 steelies, free powder in tires for balance (been drinkin bit and cant think what it is called.. haha).... and 32 lugnuts... balanced, mounted, shipped for $1800ish....

they sent me the wrong lugnuts.. sent me metric... called them up and i got 32 new standard lugnuts shipped....

i had 0 issues with them and would buy again from them.......:dunno:

i don't want to buy the hawgs from them, because, i walked in there to get a price quote and they told me ground hawgs aren't in production anymore! :eek1:
and now i'm on their website, and they aren't offering the 14/35-15...

I used to work for the competition, and I would still suggest just buying them from 4wpw. Better pricing through higher volume (just like wally world) You might even be surprised at how many Mom and Pop shops buy their products through Transamerican Wholesalers (4wpw)

If you are really anti 4wpw you might try: http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/ground-hawg-tire-ground-hawgs-bias-c-61_704.html but for all I know they buy from them too?

http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/Denman-Ground-Hawg-Tires.aspx?t_c=13&t_s=162 looks like they are still selling them to me. Tell the kid at the counter to pick up the phone and check, don't just assume because they aren't in the latest 4wpw catalog (which they ARE)

I'm not necessarily anti 4wpw, i just haven't had any good luck with them. and the guy behind the counter said ground hawgs and bfg km1s are both out of production. anyway, enough discussion on that, what about the tires?

ok fine... dont buy from them... but you ask about the tires..

well they are whatever you feel they are...

ill buy my hawgs from whomever has them in stock.... and use my credit card which is protected so if they dont deliver i cancel and buy else where..

oh also there is a guy locally that can get them... found that out recently....

so if you are asking .... go for it.. find a set of hawgs.. you wont be disappointed...:dunno:

okay, but how decent are they on the road? when i tried my buddy's boggers (35 tall, 16 wide) one of my friends complained up and down about how they performed on the road. but to be honest, i didn't have all too big of a problem with them, except for my turning and the road noise was kind of annoying while trying to uphold a conversation

I had those exact boggers on my old 93 z71 except for the nosie I had no problems from them I bought them used almost new, from a buddy that had them on an old 85 chevy pickup. I only ever used them in the mud and they worked great. I drove them till there was on side way tread left only then did I get stuck.
