Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

heres the deal ima daily driver getting a 6" bds lift

want some tires to make this thing look bad arse.
but want some manners on the road.

looking at 36x12.5x15" SSR's
35x12.50x15 truxus mud radial
36x13.50x15" IROks/raidal 37"

forgot to add the goodyear MTR's in here 35x12.50x15

bfg muds 35x12.50x15
a/ts not really

these will be going on 15x8 or 15x10" wheels with 2.75" back spacing due to saving a few bucks on wheels and tires.

dont mind too much of a hum ive got mud kings that came witht he truck i like the hum they got makes my presence known to people.

want a good tire that is agressive looking and preforms well offroad im moving to above dallas so i dont think ill be getting into snow anymore.

the SSR's and BFG muds have my eye right now what do you guys think

i cant find much info on what the IROK is designed for.

If you are going to use them for a fair amount of mud then the SSR's. If you want an all around tire MTR or BFG MT. They are normal radial and will give you better road manners and longer tread life. SSR's are radials too but they are softer compound and won't last as long I don't think.

I am currently running the MTR's and I really like them. They aren't great in the mud but they do ok as long as you keep them spinning, and they do well in everything else.

Im running the Trxus/mt but only 33's
Daily Driver, handle well on and off road and pretty quiet.
So far wear is good

HOSS:

how do the mtr's howl on the road?

how would you comapre the BFG muds to the mtr's?

mudd use im not sure ill have ALOT very minimal im just trying to build a good looking functional truck, want some agressive lookin tires that will go when i want em too..

i like boggers but thats a waste to pavement pound them and theyd beat me to death after they started to wear.

Re: Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

I had BFG MT's before the MTR's. I only had them a short while so I never used them offroad. I like the MTR's for an all around trail tire as do many guys here in AZ.

You do get a little howl on the road but nothing bad at all. I don't really notice and I am not running top right now. I do know that the MTR has a little thicker sidewall then the BFG which is nice in the AZ rocks.

A guy I know on here DesertDueler said his MTR's performed better in the mud then his BFG MT's did too. I like the way the MTR makes my truck look too. If you want some pics check out my link below. There are pics of my truck with the MTR's there.

another thing to add is girl really likes rocks n stuff so rock performance is gonna be a good one.

how are the mtr's on rocks verse the ssr's ?

i hear the bfg's are weak on sidewalls

Re: Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

MTR's do pretty well in the rocks. The guys here in AZ prove that time and again. The SSR's might have a little edge because of the more open voids but I would think it is a toss up with the SSR's have the advantage maybe.

Yeah, they're rough riding loud obnoxious pieces of crap.

If you want tires like that, get Swampers, at least they work well.

Re: Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

well that sums it up lol..

so ssr's or mtr's huh

wonder what is tougher a tsl radial or ssr?

Re: Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

If you want a tough tire I have heard good things about the SSR's with 16" rims. They have the 10 ply sidewall and I have been told that they are pretty tough. I have heard the 6 plys (15") are kinda weak though. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I think the SSR's will last longer then the TSL radials and should have better road manners.

hrm found some used ssr's in 15"
tempting..

wonder whats toughter the 6ply ssr's or the mtr's?

Re: Tires 36\" x12.5 x? SSR, BFG muds, truxus and IROk

For a daily driver, what ever you get, make it a radial. I've got the SSRs on one truck, BFG muds on another and BFG A/Ts on a 3rd. A/Ts are quietest, SSRs wear the worst and are the loudest. All have good road manners but you can't go wrong with the BFG or MTR if you're thinking daily driver. One other note, stay away from the 6 ply, load range C tires. There's a reason why Super Swampers is making everything they sell load range E and why Goodyear and BFG only offer truck tires in a load range D or greater. I've had both 6 ply tires on the front of my truck blow out. Granted I have a 454 and a winch but I couldn't imagine a 350 and stock bumper would have made the weight difference to save my 6 plys.

Good Luck.
