Tires for Dante's Peak Suburban aka Big Red *Offer of Discount by company*

I'm not a fan of old mystery tires. They could be 5 years old...they could be 15...

Yeah, but those tires aren't near him.
Chances are also good the seller doesn't know how to find, read, and interpret the date either. You'd have to try and coach them through that part.
Meanwhile those Dunlops could be pre 2000 when the system was more complicated than it is now.

I am on a quest!!!! So guy who I am doing some work for on a cherokee pulls up and has 2 old school mtrs on. The correct tread. They are 35s so to big but he just bought them a month or so ago brand new. So contacting an old buddy who used to do ire warehousing in Colorado want to see if there is a decent way to search inventory. If not well I guess I will spend lots of time e mailing places. So there is a glimmer of hope in finding the correct tire

just a fyi on dating tires.

3 blocks of 4 digits for a full dot no.

last block is what you date the tire with .

if the last block has 3 digits ( ex. 389 ) this would be 38th week of 1999 .

if the tire has 4 digits ( ex. 3809 ) this would be 38th week of 2009 .

hope this help you guys find what you need .

and when I first strated auto work in late 99 at a good year tire seller shop the original mt ( not mtr ) was fazing out and none were coming in . only the newer mtr stuff.

.

and if me I would go cooper stt or bfg m/t my self.

The DOT codes only been around since the late 90's.

A Goodyear MT (NOT MTR) would be older than that. Me personally I wouldn't bother. Why pay money for 15 or more year old tires? It's not if they'll fall apart but when.

I like the Dunlop Mud Rovers and the Mastercraft tire for the looks on the treads.

They may look good, but the mud rovers get horrible reviews.

I think you get what you pay for on those....

OK here is an update!

Talked to a tire company today on some 33x12.50 R 15/6 tires. They are a specialty tire manufacturer. Major name know in racing and performance circles. The tires normally sell for around $239 each. Here is the deal they will sell them for the build at $168 a piece and around $140 shipping for a total of $980.00

Tire fund has $400 in it should I keep working toward it or go with something else?

Those definitely evoke the old tires that were on it. I say go for them.

Look like Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC, which have a pretty aggressive sidewall design which I thought was not desired? In any case that is not a discount price by any means. Just priced them out a www.4wheelparts.com for $908 ($50 rebate and free shipping) and www.ntwonline.com for $988 all shipped to my house, and these were just the first two places I checked. Bet you could find them cheaper if you shopped around some more.

Yes they are and a 33x12.50 r15 lt are $234.99 each with a $50 rebate in four tires. So 5 times 234.99 is $1174.95 sub rebate $50 is $1134.95

Also FOB is Ohio for them. Unless I am not seeing how they were less?

Just glanced at your post and assumed the $980 was a set of four tires, and that was what my prices were based on. That is a decent price for five of those tires.

Well after checking all the other prices they seem to be the best deal. I have $400 and am selling 640 rds of 762 for $199. So that makes $600 towards them.

Any one find them cheaper than $980 let me know. Thanks

OK so now I have to decide the 31's or the 33's not going to have lift bought and done by show. Going to try and sell the tires on burb; need to see what Big O gets for them when they were new.

33s :thumb:

The 31s won't look the part.

I ran 33s on my truck with only a front easy inch for a long time with no rubbing. This was with 33x12.5 tsl bias swampers that are true to size. On the street you should be fine unless the front springs are totally shot.

The DP burb was a V10 with 3 inch lift. Mine is a V10 (1500) and I plan on a min 1 inch but would like to do a 2 inch but after getting confused on what is involved. Blocks under the spring pack add leafs, flips??? What needs what... new shocks and the prices! :dunno:

Also the 31s should be about $100 cheaper I would think.:dunno:
