I have the original springs and tire size on a k5. I'm going to get some new tires. These springs are tired and should be replaced. I don't really want to get a lift. If at most maybe 2 inches.

The problem is that I need to fit the K5 into the garage. I only have a few inches of clearence.

If I add new springs, no lift and 31 inch tires how tall will this make the k5? What if I add 2in lift and 31 in tires. How tall will the k5 be?

My concern is that the K5 still needs to fit into the garage. With tired springs and stock bald tires I get about 6'' of clearance. So with a mild lift kit and 31 it may be close. Any way to tell the height when finished?

Not really, put 31" tires on it and then see how much clearence you have before you hit the garage. If you have 2-3 inches then put a 2 inch lift on it.

didn't they come stock with 31" tires?? it would be nuts to lift a truck to fit 31's...

As far as height goes, I doubt you'll see much of a difference. even a 4" lift and 31" tires wouldn't give you 6" of extra height.

stock was some tire size they don't even make any more. I still have the original full size spare. 78 came with Firstones. The stock size now is 235-75-15

The original springs are so bad that the arch is going the wrong way. Can I get a 2inch lift? I want a very mild lift.

why dont you just put some 33" tires on it? they clear nicely, and you get some usable height out of it, while retaining your factory ride quality. I wouldnt be too worried about those springs arching back, most stock springs do just that.

Maybe I could borrow someone's 33's and see if it fits in the garage. Anyone here from Seattle?

i have a 4" on 33's and it fits in the garage just by about 1/4 in...

My K5 on 44's and 15" of lift fits into my garage with 12" of clearance.... Of course, its a 10' door.

people seem to forget that garages are all different. posting up the door height would make your comment useful.

I agree, because I have a 4inch lift with 35's but when I had 33's on it, it still didnt fit in my garage.

dont know if this helps but 32's fit on my blazer with stock suspension and only sits 1/2 inch higher than stock so clearance should not be a problem?

well, if it were me, I would just roll a 33" up to the stock tire, measure the height difference. less than half of that will be what it raises your truck. This is simple stuff.

good info. wonder if I add a 2in lift and 31's what height I would get. Problem is that I have the stock springs which are way tired. I'm sure they are lower then stock.
