I've got a 96 F350 4x4 that I want to go bigger on tires to keep RPMs down. No, not huge off-road ones, but rather "D" or "E" radials. It has 265/75/16s on stock aluminum wheels.

What is the largest size anyone has successfully run without hitting?

I was thinking 285/75/16s should be fine, but would like to go bigger if I can.

I run 285/75's currently, had 305/70's on it before, and my girlfriend's dad runs 315's on his. None of these combos rub. The 315's dont rub do to the ranch hand full replacement bumper though. I personally like the 285's the best out of all of them.

Just out of curiosity, what sizes are there in 85 series? I know 235/85/16, but would like something a little wider/taller, without going too wide.

I just saw some of those Desert Duelers on a truck the other day, and I was thinking that they were a very nice looking all-terrain tire. If you are concerned with looks.

I had 295/75/16s on my 97 Ps did not rub. I did try 315s they hit the bumper on full turns.

You do not want to run 255/85/16's on a SRW truck. These tires are best suited to dually's. These tires are tall (33" diameter) and thin (10.3" tread width). I run a set of these on my dually.

Is there a way to calculate the RPM different between different tire sizes? Basically, I an doing 67 @ 2200 rpms witht he 265s. I'd like to see how fast I'll be going at 2200 with 285's.

72 mph if you switch to 285's
